The independent grid company as an enabler for a diversified generation sector
Nedbank EEBI Seminar 3
Six morning seminars, each covering critical energy, electricity and issues facing South Africa, are planned. The seminars each provide practical solutions that can unlock bottlenecks, mitigate risk and encourage investment, economic growth and job creation. The seminars each involve broad policy, regulatory, social, economic business, labour and community issues that are topical and relevant for the year ahead.
The independent grid company as an enabler for a diversified, efficient power generation sector
International best-practice indicates that an independent, state-owned transmission grid company and market operator that facilitates non-discriminatory access to the grid on level playing fields and on economic grounds, is key to attracting investment, extracting efficiencies, mitigating risk and creating new jobs in a diversified and competitive generation sector. The seminar explores how an independent grid company can facilitate a broad, diversified generation sector comprising a number of Eskom generators, PPP generators, municipal generators, IPPs and thousands of embedded generators on customers’ premises.
